Coronavirus Guide
The coronavirus virus, which has spread across the US and across the globe is the same virus that caused SARS. The virus still causes illnesses, and some suffer from severe illness. Immunization is the best way to stay clear of the spread of infection. You can also reduce the spread by practicing safe habits. This includes making sure you have adequate airflow inside the home, avoiding contact with others and wearing a mask when you are in public. Being current with your medications can assist you in avoiding serious illness, hospitalization and even death if you are ill.
A single SARS-CoV-2 virus particle, known as a virion, measures about 80 nanometers in diameter. It has a layer of protein that encases a ball of RNA that contains the genetic code needed to make viruses. A spike protein on a virus’ surface connects to a receptor within healthy cells. This is typically an ACE2 protein. ACE2. This allows the virus to enter the cell. Once inside the host cell it can hijack the machinery for making proteins of the host to produce hundreds or thousands of copies. The virions are released from the cell to infect other cells and make more viruses.
People with the infection may show symptoms such as fever, a sore throat, a ranny or stuffy nose, and cough. Some people may experience more serious symptoms like pneumonia chest and lung problems, and even heart attacks. The majority of people recover without long-term effects.
